Unit Trust & Oeic Dealing
Dealings in Unit Trusts and Oeics take place only once each business day, typically at 12 noon.
Unit Trusts and Oeic trades may be placed via a number of different functions. The most straight forward approach is through the standard trade page, however if you are reviewing a fund in the Funds Library research solution or considering the negotiated discounts as shown within the Unit Trust Terms List, you will find Buy and Sell buttons which if selected will take you to a pre-populated trade ticket. Finally if you wish to add to an existing holding or sell it, simply click on the Buy and Sell buttons along side the position in the Portfolio page.
Orders may be placed at any time of the day but we can only guarantee to transact those instructions received before 11am, on a same day basis. Instructions received between 11 am and noon, will be dealt on a best endeavours basis, which in some instances could result in an order being placed after 12 pm, as such qualifying for the next business day’s valuation price.
In the instance of a Buy instruction, the trade ticket will display your current cash balance being the maximum sum you may invest at that point in time. When placing a Sell instruction we will display your total holding in the fund, with it possible to place a sale up to this quantity. It is also possible to place an instruction to Buy a quantity of units or Raise an amount of monies from the sale of units. A confirmation of each trade will be displayed to you for confirmation – please check this carefully before submitting your order.
Upon submitting your instruction this will automatically be reflected in your Portfolio page, with cash or units ring-fenced to account for the purchase or sale. The pending trade may be viewed in Forward Orders. Upon receipt of the fund group’s contract, which for standard daily traded funds may in extreme cases take up to 2 days, we shall send you a Contract Note by e-mail in the normal way. Your Portfolio valuation will be changed upon confirmation of the trade to reflect the new or revised position, the transaction being available to view in your Trade History. If you wish to trade in a fund that is not covered by the system, please simply contact the Helpdesk who will be happy to look into whether or not we can transact in it. The Helpdesk will also be happy to provide you with a copy of a fund’s Key Features Document by e-mail, if this is not available via the Funds Library solution, or supply you with details of a web site address where this may be viewed.
For the sake of consistency, all discounts shown in the Funds Library research solution or Unit Trust Terms List are as a reduction on the normal Offer Price, rather than as a charge over the Creation Price. In some instances, the arrangement we may have with the fund management group is based around the Creation Price.
From time to time, the fund management group may vary the basis on which funds may be acquired via the Icon platform. The list is regularly updated, but it may well transpire that the terms on which we deal for you, may differ to that stated in either the Funds Library research solution or Unit Trust Terms List. In such instances we will attempt to contact you to draw this to your attention prior to placing the trade. This said we do not accept any liability for any higher initial costs you incur, as a result of a change in terms, which are clearly out of our control.
If you wish to discuss our terms and conditions, do not hesitate to contact the Helpdesk.
